One of the keys to working effectively with adolescents is helping them feel engaged in the process and safe to explore their thoughts and feelings. Dr. Greer seeks to build a collaborative and trusting relationship with all of her adolescent clients by respecting them, helping them set their own goals for therapy, and helping them find their voice in individual sessions. Dr. Greer holds separate sessions with parents to provide parents with the tools they need to support their teen and help their teen better manage their emotions and reactions. In joint sessions, Dr. Greer helps parents and their teenagers practice communication, limit setting, and problem solving skills in a hands-on manner.

Dr. Greer uses expressive therapy with adolescents as a way to help them access their emotions, find their own voice, and stay engaged in the process. Dr. Greer also finds that expressive therapy is a great way for teenagers and their parents to: practice newly learned skills, strengthen their relationship, and discover once more how to have fun together!
